This restaurant, Karmakamet Diner, popped up a couple of times when I looked for a nice place to eat for dinner near where I lived. When an Australian colleague came to visit, we finally decided to go and try it out.
Atmosphere.
The location is absolutely amazing. It is a quite large, long room with a window front to one side and a bar to the others. It is decorated quite dark with dark wooden tables and chairs and black racks up to the ceiling holding wine and liquor bottles to separate the tables. Outside is a small green garden creating a nice view to look at.
Food.
The food is very delicious, it is a Western Thai fusion kitchen using Thai spices and seafood combined with e.g. Italian pasta. The fresh self-made bread served as an entrée with butter was the perfect balance between fluff and firm. My absolute favorite was the dessert – “Old Fashioned Donut” – smooth tasteful vanilla ice cream with a salty camembert dip and a sweet sugary donut.
Price.
The price is fair for the location, service and food you receive, it is a little more with 400 – 900 Baht the main dish.
Location.
The restaurant is quite hidden, located behind the parking entrance of the Emporium. If you leave the BTS station Phrom Phong you can walk around the Emporium and you’ll end up at a samll drive way with a sign to the restaurant. Here is a link to Google Maps: Karmakamet Diner.
