For my work farewell dinner, my manager invited the whole team to this authentic Japanese restaurant or Izakaya called Teppen. It is a branch in Bangkok with different locations. We went to the Izakya Teppen in Ekkamai.
Atmosphere.
Typical Japanese you leave the shoes at the entrance and sit on the high floor. The restaurant has a couple of outside tables for parties of two. More seating can be found inside either next to the window or along the long bar. We were seated in a private room at the end of the restaurant. Very nice are the seats at the bar as you can sea the kitchen and watch them make your food.
Food.
Typical to an Izakaya, you can watch the chefs mage the food in the open kitchen behind the bar. You can get delicate Japanese dishes like katsuo warayaki (raw fish) or pair the robatayaki (barbecued) dishes and karaage (deepfried chicken) with sake. I can highly recommend the Edamame (a must at any Japanese restaurant), Sashimi and the mussel soup – all very delightful.
Price.
Different dishes are priced around 300 -1.500 Baht. We got six different dishes for 4 people.
Location.
It is located in the neighborhod Thonglor on 14 Sukhumvit 61 Alley, Khlong Tan Nuea, Watthana, Bangkok 10110. It can be reached by BTS, the station to get out is Thong Lor. Find a link to the Izakaya Teppe on Google Maps here.
